The APNEA.cz website and database interface were developed by Ivo Truxa, Czech software engineer and freediver living in France. The system was developed from the scratch using Miva Script server-side language, database programming, and of course HTML, CSS, and JavaScript on the client side. All parts of the software were developed in-house, with the only exceptions of the verification code image generation (on the edit/add submission form), which is a modified version of a PHP script by Jaap van der Meer, and the FlowPlayer embedded media player from Anssi Piirainen for the FLV format (Flash Video) viewing.
The development of such complex software system, the database work, the collection of the initial data set (over 1,300 database records at the opening), their formatting, image and thumbnails graphics work, video editing, website testing, as well as the current and future administration and maintenance of the website and the database - all this represents hardly imaginable amount of time. It was not planned originally to invest so much time into a hobby project offering no revenues, but the inner need for improvements and perfection (which can be never achieved anyway) have driven the work always further and longer.
Still, the time spent on it was taken away from other professional projects feeding the family, and the running maintenance and hosting costs add to it permanently too. Therefore, any donation you can afford to support this project is very helpful and very much appreciated. Even if such donations will never cover the development costs (which are in the range of many thousands of Euros), they are a symbolic way of your appreciation of my work, and as such are very much welcome and enjoyed. The amount plays minor role - even if it is just a few dollars or euros, or even a single one, your effort to send the support is what really helps. The satisfaction from users feedback appreciating the time and effort spent on the website is very important even if there is no profit from it.
